Renata Grima–
Auntie Dai Dumplings Pork & Coriander (frozen dumpling) was used to be a good dumpling, in terms of its size, taste and wrappers. But since its plastic packaging changed to the red colour with an addition of ‘Chinese New Year written’ on its plastic packaging (from Jan 2023), the quality of the product is totally dropped. To borrow a famous Chinese idiom applies here: tou gong jian liao (偷工减料); meaning: to skimp on the job and stint on materials.
Smaller meat inside and its wrapper is a way too big. Its wrapping (its superficial appearance) is too loose now. Not sure why the owner did this. Probably, they try to maintain the same price by lowering the quality of its product in order to have a same profit. But with its price per plastic (600 gram) is $11.60; it’s already quite expensive compared with other frozen dumpling products we currently have in the NZ market.
I have not tried the other dumpling products with different filling (pork and chives, pork, prawn and garlic), therefore I have no idea if they manage to maintain the same qualities as before (but so far their plastic packaging are the same as of March 2023).
To the owner of Aunty Dai’s dumpling. You will loose your customers if you do not go back to your previous quality products.
