Jackfruit is a fantastic wholefood meat alternative option mimicking ‘pulled pork or beef’. It is the largest fruit in the world and is a highly sustainable food source, thriving in hot climates, resilient to pest & disease, and needing very little water to grow. It has a very neutral flavour and absorbs flavour well like a potato or tofu. The Bean Supreme BBQ Marinade is perfect for Burgers, pizza’s, and rich hearty stews like Chilli con Carne. Vegan Friendly, Gluten Free, Palm Oil Free. Made In Thailand where Jackfruit is sourced.

The sweetness and texture somewhat let it down, but otherwise, this is a convenient and quick ingredient to add to a meal.

Absolutely loved this – so easy to prepare and tastes delicious. Put with smashed carrot/parsnips, rice noodles with sesame sauce and freshly steamed broccolli

Wasn’t able to try this one as allergic to tomato which is one of the key ingredients, but like Jackfruit, so assume it would be good.

I’d heard about Jackfruit from a vegan friend, I loved trying it, it really is very similar texture to meat!

Pleasant enough, sweet taste.
Can understand price, as jackfruit not readily grown in NZ.

Interesting meatfree alternative – was quite sweet. Easy to heat and use. Not sure I’d pay $8 though

Pretty tasty and fun to try something new plant based. Wouldn’t be my first pick off the shelf but still alright
