Chelsea Dark Cane Sugar
A moist, dark brown sugar with a rich, full flavour derived from natural molasses syrup, similar to dark muscovado sugar. It is ideal for sweetening fruits, puddings, fruitcakes, gingerbread and chocolate cakes adding both colour and flavour. Great in BBQ sauces, marinades, pickles, chutneys, chilli or curry.

The deep molasses notes make it the perfect compliment to chocolate cake, fruitcakes, gingerbread and puddings. Delicious sprinkled and caramelised over fresh cut fruit.

But it’s not all about baking. Chelsea Dark Cane Sugar is also a great substitute for palm sugar in Asian dishes.

Experiment a little and substitute it for soft brown sugar to add more flavour to your baking.

    I love the versatility of this sugar. Given its rich flavour, it can be used to add to so many things (drinks, cooking, baking). I loved the fact that it was so easy to mix into our baking ingredients as its much softer than regular brown sugar.

    Great for baking! Not a regular go to though as is a little overpowering

    + PROS: Delicious in anything that requires less sweetness or caramelised flavour (I used this in banana bread and plan on making caramel and ginger slice with this too) Good price point
    - CONS: Can be overpowering in things such as coffee if you’re not into darker sugar/ molasses flavour

    Lovely flavour, everyone enjoyed, added a great caramel depth to the baked muesli we made – delicious.

    + PROS: Very flavourful, straight swap for any recipe containing sugar so lots of fun trying it out.

    We used this in spaghetti bolognaise for a more malty flavour. Really enjoyed the outcome. Would use again – next up is donuts!

    + PROS: - Malty flavour - Nice and soft (not coarse or clumpy)
    - CONS: Only con is that the baking and cooking can't make themselves!
