Church Road Pinot Gris

Pinot gris is often divided into two distinctive styles. The dry and crisp, less aromatic ‘grigio’ style is typical of italy, with the aromatic, richer and often slightly sweeter styles traditionally associated with the region of alsace in north-eastern france. Church road pinot gris is firmly toward the latter style, with our cool climate, hawke’s bay high country matapiro vineyard growing small crops of fully ripe pinot gris fruit that naturally produces beautifully fragrant wines with good textural richness and balance. This pinot gris is all about fresh aromatics and gentle, rich texture. It has a great ability to stand up to a range of food styles without dominating or clashing. A particularly good match for braised pork belly and with that touch of sweetness, it works well with many south east asian inspired dishes.
