Established in 1985, cloudy bay was one of the first five wine makers to venture into marlborough. With vision and a humble commitment to quality, its founder, david hohnen, a farmer who loved wine, dreamt of expressing the terroir in his glass. Fast forward, to 2010, with cloudy bay’s relentless passion for exploring new territories, cloudy bay arrived in the most extreme, southerly and continental new zealand terroir: central otago and te wahi was born.
Te wahi expresses the mysterious side of central otago through cloudy bay’s winemaking lens. The southernmost vineyard on earth, an untamed and hostile territory where cloudy bay decided to grow its most exclusive pinot noir.
