First created in the year of my birth, Golden Crumpets have been one of my great constant pleasures in my life. I remember the butter soaking through the crumpet, leaving a puddle on the plate for me to mop up with the the last pieces. I also remember fondly the edges occasionally burning a little as I toasted my crumpets to a crunchy brown on top with a light and fluffy center.
Alas, those days are now just memories, with my beloved Golden Crumpets replaced by some dodgy, stodgy rubberized poor excuse of a crumpet. Looks like it’s time look at the “Sunny” (Aldi) side of the shopping aisle.
The brainiac who authorized the changes should be tied to a tree and pelted with packs of these abominations until he/she comes to his/re senses and orders the return to the original product.
+ PROS: Pros are now just distant memories
1 star because I din't choke on them.
- CONS:rubbery texture. Some crumpets were just a doughy blob with hardly any of the important holes

Crumpets used to be spongey and have a nice texture. They have changed for the the worst now. They taste disgusting and even smell weird as well as strange texture. They USED to absorb the spreads nicely
+ PROS: None
- CONS:Disgusting

Don’t think much of new golden crumpet style in Australia. Just like inferior other crumpet brands now. Not worthy of more stars

The recipe, ingredients, or production method has changed recently, I suspect. This has led to an inferior product. Please tell me when a return to original takes place so I can resume buying them.
+ PROS: None
- CONS:Why change a great product ?

WHY, WHY, WHY????
Why change the recipe and presentation.
For decades our household has enjoyed Goldren Crumpets in winter.
Come 2022, and they are different.
Quite rubbery in texture and has lost the golden top.

Who ever advocated the change needs a new job.

Love the way the butter soaks into these. Fluffy texture on inside, crispy on outside. My ‘go to’ for Sunday lunch.
