MacKenzie pies and rolls are made in the timeless traditions of high country baking. The best ingredients, sourced locally where possible, skilfully mixed by their bakers. Hearty, abundant and moreish. MacKenzie Steak and Ale Pie is made using 100% prime cut NZ beef which is marinated overnight in locally brewed ale & wrapped in golden pastry.
Tasted okay, was a bit squashed so hard to really enjoy. Good pastry.

Fine for a quick snack if you aren’t fussy, but really peppery – any other flavours were overpowered. Pastry didn’t hold up to microwaving very well so best to pop it in the oven, or use a knife and fork if you don’t have the time!
