The history of stella artois begins in the belgian city of leuven with a brewery called den horen that dates back to 1366. In 1717, master brewer sebastian artois purchased the brewery and changed it’s name to artois. Stella artois was first brewed as a christmas beer. Stella artois is brewed to perfection using the original stella artois yeast and only the best ingredients including the celebrated saaz hops.
It’s the optimum premium lager, with its full flavour and clean, crisp taste. Stella artois has a hoppy aroma with a hint of fruitiness and clean bitterness that is well balanced with the malt flavour. The mild malt and light hops of stella artois accentuate the richness of dishes such as lamb, crayfish and shellfish without overwhelming the balance of flavours. While the dry, crisp and spicy, tones match well with foods like oysters, mussels and satay chicken.
