There’s nothing quite like starting your mornings with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. So, what better way to honour this beloved drink than dedicating a day of celebration for it? Get ready to brew coffee lovers, today is World Coffee Day!
The origin of coffee can be traced back to the ancient coffee forests of Ethiopia where goat herder, Kaldi, first discovered it after noticing a change in his goats’ behaviour. The story goes that his goats became so energetic after eating the berries, they couldn’t sleep at night!
The herder then reported his findings to the abbot of the monastery, who made a drink with the berries. The abbot found that the drink kept him alert through long hours of prayer in the evening.
From there, word spread in the monastery and across the land until reaching the Arabian peninsula, where it started its journey of bringing the good news of coffee to the world.
