Why is Collagen so popular?
We wanted to dig deeper into the latest hot topic, Collagen. Here’s what we found out:
The collagen in our body makes up 90% of connective tissue, 90% organic bone mass, and 70% of our skin.
What is all the hype about collagen supplements, should I be taking them?
Collagen production slows from the early 20s to around half by our 60s. Less collagen can lead to joint stiffness, weaker bones, wrinkles, saggy skin, and thinner hair/nails. If you are over 20, you may be considering consuming more collagen in your diet or taking a supplement.
How would I eat more collagen?
Gelatin and collagen are found in bone broth and cuts of meat that contain skin and bone (such as chicken skin and pork skin). You can make bone broth by slowly cooking bones and cartilage to form gelatin.
What about collagen supplements? (And are they vegan?)
No, sorry! Collagen is an animal product and may be extracted from various sources such as cows (bovine), chicken, or fish (marine).
There are a myriad of collagen pills, drinks, and powders and creams on the market. Do your own research into products that suit your lifestyle and budget. E.g. If you drink a smoothie every day, you might consider adding a collagen powder! Remember that any supplement will be easier to take if you can integrate it into your daily routine.

I have used Two Islands and Nothing Naughty (mainly because of the price) and I have new hair and stronger nails – my nails were awful……now they break less. Nothing changed in my skin.
I’ve been using Dose & Co collagen creamer and unflavoured collagen powder for about a month now, nails are longer, hair seems to have grown but haven’t noticed too much of a difference to my skin, still quite dry with eczema
I have tried Sanderson’s Hair Skin Nails and noticed no difference after 3 months🤨
