I was very excited to be trying a new cheese from Castello range. I already love the Castello creamy blue & aged havarti which are always in our fridge. The savoury onion cheddar is a nice flavoursome cheese which I enjoyed but not as much as other Castello cheeses.

Tasted like i was eating a cheese and onion sandwich. I found the onion flavor a bit over powering and left a strong onion taste afterwards in my mouth. It didn’t taste bad and was nice for a couple crackers and while I can appreciate that maybe this would be good on a pizza or in a burger id leave any additional onions off the pizza or burger.

We are absolute cheese lovers in household, and I tell you what this one lived up to all our expectations. Punchy, we had on crackers with our homemade relish as well as melting on our burger buns. Beautifully paired with Silverfern Farm lamb burger patties.
